Aging – The most significant risk factor for chronic diseases

Targeting aging instead of single diseases.

Targeting aging instead of single diseases

The global medical problem caused by age-related conditions can be approached by modifying the aging process, targeting an enormous unmet need.

Developing therapies for nervous system protection & repair

Therapeutics for new targets that are associated with human aging, the main risk factor for age-related brain diseases.

What we do

We are targeting age–associated conditions of the central and peripheral nervous systems

focusing on central nervous system conditions with significant neurodegenerative components and those related to neuronal degeneration.

RISK AGE

OUR

Approach

Aging and brain diseases are associated with the modification of the protein landscape, leading to tissue dysfunction and connectivity loss. We combine in silico, in vitro and in vivo approaches to discover the effect of existing and novel drugs in restoring the protein configuration in conditions associated with aging of the nervous system.

A. From proteomics data (7k protein levels, +50 protein modules, access to a 1.3k protein library) we identified protein modules changing in the aged brain.

B. Direction and magnitude of the changes are mapped, generating a protein landscape

C. With this information we search for known and new targets for landscape reversal.

THE

Process

We have extensive expertise in in vitro and in vivo models for aging and neurodegeneration in order to test candidate molecules in clinically relevant biomedical models.
